Privacy
The short version: we keep your email so we can tell you when qs2.social opens, and as little else as we can. Ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
qs2.social is an independent, student-run social project. For removal of your data, you can email hello@qs2.social.
What we collect
- Your email address.
- That you confirmed you’re 18 or over.
- Whether you’re after friends, dating or both.
- Which share link brought you here, if any, so we know who invited whom.
- When you joined.
To stop spam, we also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for up to 24 hours. It can’t be turned back into your IP address, and it’s deleted automatically. This site doesn’t use cookies or analytics.
Why
You’re asking us to tell you when qs2.social opens, so we use your email for that: one email now confirming you’re on the list, and one when we open. Nothing else, no newsletter, and we never sell it. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing hello@qs2.social. We check the address is an Imperial one because qs2.social is only for Imperial students for now. The spam check relies on our legitimate interest in keeping the waitlist free of bots.
Who else handles it
Supabase (our database, in London), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (email) handle your data for us. Vercel and Resend are US companies and protect data leaving the UK with the safeguards UK law requires.
How long we keep it
Until qs2.social opens. If you don’t create an account within three months of launch, we delete your waitlist entry. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will, within a month and usually much faster.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@qs2.social. If you’re unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
18 and over only
qs2.social is for people aged 18 and over. If you’re under 18, please don’t join. If we learn that someone under 18 has signed up, we delete their entry.
